Log Lock-Up - Bright

Park Street, BRIGHT VIC 3741 - Property No B0707

The log lock-up, Park Street, was erected c.1870 and was originally located within the police station precinct. It is constructed of rough hewn logs, each approximately 30cm diameter, stacked 10 high and crossed at the corners. The roof was originally clad in timber shingles. The log lock-up at Omeo was erected c. 1863 under the supervision of the Public Works Department. It is constructed of roughly squared hardwood logs stacked 12 high horizontally and notched at the corners. The roof was clad in shingles and an iron bar grille door and slit windows are the only openings. The ceiling is formed of logs and the interior is lined with blackwood logs.
